Why Indianapolis Employers Choose LED Indy for EV

Workplace charging is an electrical project before it is an amenity. The same licensed contractor runs the load calculation, sets the conduit and the stalls, installs the stations and decides with you who is allowed to plug in.

Certified On EV

ChargePoint Certified, EVITP certified and NABCEP certified, so the install meets both the manufacturer and the industry standard.

Full Electrical Shop

We do the panel, feeders and service work ourselves, so a capacity problem does not stall the charger project.

Built For Expansion

We plan conduit and panel space for the ports you will want later, so phase 2 is cheap instead of painful.

Indianapolis Owned

Indianapolis owned and operated, licensed and insured, and here for the warranty calls and the software questions afterward.

Written Scope, Written Number

We walk the building before we quote, then put the workplace ev charging scope in writing line for line, so you can compare our number against anyone else's on the same work.

We Work Around Your Building

Nights, weekends, shutdowns and school breaks. We agree the access and outage windows with you before the workplace ev charging work starts, so your tenants and your production schedule are not the ones absorbing it.

Answers to what matters

Workplace EV Charging Questions in Indianapolis

Can our employees charge their cars at work?

Yes, and that is exactly what workplace charging is built for. Level 2 stations put back enough range during a normal shift for most commutes, so employees plug in when they arrive and leave with a full battery. You decide who gets access, whether that is badge holders, tenants or visitors, and the station software enforces it. We set those rules during commissioning.

What is the 80 percent rule for EV charging circuits?

It refers to continuous load. Code treats EV charging as a continuous load, so the circuit is sized at 125 percent of the charger rating, which means the charger draws no more than 80 percent of the breaker. A 40 amp station needs a 50 amp circuit. That rule is why port count is capped by your service capacity, and why the load study comes first.

Should workplace charging be free or billed to the driver?

That is your call, and the stations support either. Some employers offer charging as a free benefit and absorb the electricity. Others set a per session or per kilowatt hour rate to recover the cost and to keep cars moving out of the stall once they finish. Networked stations handle the billing and the reporting, and we configure whichever model you pick during setup.

Do we need an electrical service upgrade to add EV chargers?

Sometimes, and the load study tells us before you spend anything. Many buildings have spare capacity for a first bank of Level 2 ports, especially with load management that shares the available amps across stations. Others are already near the limit and need a panel or service upgrade first. We run the calculation, show you the port count your service supports today, and price both paths.

How many ports should we start with, and where do they go?

Start with what your service supports and where the conduit run is short. In most Indianapolis buildings that means the stalls closest to the electrical room, with an accessible stall and access route included in the layout. We usually set conduit and capacity for more ports than you install up front, so the next phase is a hardware add rather than another trenching job.
