What is the difference between an occupancy sensor and a vacancy sensor?
An occupancy sensor turns lights on automatically when someone enters and off after the space is empty. A vacancy sensor makes you turn the lights on by hand but shuts them off automatically. Energy code requires vacancy style manual on control in some spaces, which is why an office and a warehouse aisle often end up with different sensor types. We pick per space during design.
Do lighting controls require a permit or inspection in Indianapolis?
Most control work does, because it changes circuits and has to meet commercial energy code. We pull the permit, install to the code version your jurisdiction is enforcing, and meet the inspector on site. Controls are among the items inspectors look at closely on a lighting retrofit, since a fixture swap without the required sensors or scheduling can fail even when the lights work fine.

We phase the work by area so each zone is finished and commissioned before we open the next.
Can our staff override the controls when they need to?
Yes, and every system we install has a way to do it. Wall stations, override switches and scheduling software let someone hold a zone on for a late shift, a cleaning crew or an after hours event without calling us. We set who can override what during commissioning, so a single conference room can be changed at the wall while the building schedule stays locked.
